Is Integrative Meridian Therapy the same as Massage, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, or Reiki?

IMT is not the same as Massage, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, or Reiki.

While emotional and energetic states are treated through a blending of methods, the primary focus of the work is anatomical aka physical.

What is IMT similar to?

From my research, there are modalities that are similar in foundation, yet different in practice. These practices are all related to Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy. Feldenkrais Method, Strain-Counterstrain, Ortho-Bionomy, Integrative Manual Therapy.

How does it work?

IMT is a way of facilitating the innate healing capacity of the body. This is primarily done by moving the body into comfortable positions which allows the body to come out of a holding pattern and into a healthier, more balanced position. Acupressure points are also utilized to encourage the flow of chi (energy) and encourage overall vitality. The whole person is treated in a comprehensive treatment, rather than seeing a person as segmented parts.

I have an injury, but can’t be touched in the injured area...

Can IMT still help?

Absolutely! IMT aids in improving blood flow and the flow of chi (energy), making your body’s amazing healing abilities to be more accessible.

Many experience better sleep following an IMT session. We all know that our bodies are able to repair better when we get proper rest.

I have a rare condition, can IMT help me?

Because IMT works with the body’s own self-repair mechanisms, the scope of what it can benefit is wide. I’ve seen surprising results with multiple sclerosis, narcolepsy, and degenerated knees.

What if I don’t like to be touched?

First off, sessions are fully clothed. Secondly, IMT utilizes a light touch which many find comforting. Plus, we can start by working on limbs, in order to build trust and comfortability.

TRUE STORY -> I was very blessed to work with a woman that wasn’t even comfortable with a hug from a friend. For her, and many others, past trauma has impacted their ability to safely enjoy touch. After working with me and doing emotional work, she was able to finally enjoy a hug from a friend. :)

Does IMT compliment other modalities?

YES! Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, and Somatic Therapy are excellent compliments. People I’ve treated who were regularly participating in one of these saw bigger results with those practices than they did before receiving IMT. Keep in mind, you don’t have to receive these in order to see results with IMT.

What about emotions?

Some people seek my services to help with emotional balancing because sessions diffuse trauma out of the body and generate greater self-awareness.

How long should I plan on getting sessions for?

Typically, for something that hasn’t been an issue for very long (acute), the issue can resolve between one and five sessions (when over consecutive weeks). For something that has been an issue for a very long time (chronic), big improvements are typically seen by twelve sessions.

It is important to try to get in once a week to every other week in order to see improvement. This allows for us to build upon previous sessions rather than start back at square one every time.

What if I purchase a package but my problem resolves sooner?

Often, an issue that wasn’t as pronounced before comes about after the initial condition resolves. The work tends to evolve and take us to new places. If that isn’t happening, we’ll discuss your package and what works for you at this point in time.
